The Leonardo Crew has landed on the human colony on Mars

The first days will be spend preparing the instrumentation, future experiments, and maintenance of the Hab, after a long trip setting up logistics and scientific requirements.

The next days will see the testing of the MarsSkins - astronaut suits engineered for martian environment - which will also be compared with the regular suits. An improved version of the 'Cliff Reconnaissance Vehicle' - CRV - will be tested under several conditions. Further, geologic rock samples will be recovered. The crew will be looking into samples with endolithic organisms which will be sent over to the Kennedy Space Center. Here, the samples will be submitted to the martian environment to better understand how they would react and evolve under martian environment.

A depressurization of the Hab will be simulated next Friday. The six members of the crew will have to repair a breach caused by a dust devil - sort of a electro charged tornado - with the help of the CRV. The crew will also test evacuation procedures.

Daily updates and photos will be available on the official site of the Leonardo Project and on Mars Society web page.
